Sacramento Kings rumors swirled following the Richaun Holmes trade that put the franchise in a position to have the third-most cap space in the NBA this summer. On the verge of NBA free agency, league executives think Sacramento will make multiple big moves this offseason.
The Kings have already been connected with an interest in trading for either All-Star forward Pascal Siakam or All-Defensive Team forward OG Anunoby. While trade talks involving the Toronto Raptors’ stars have gone quiet, Sacramento is also being connected to forward Kyle Kuzma in free agency.

Kuzma was nearly traded to the Kings in 2021, but the Los Angeles Lakers backed out of the Buddy Hield trade. With the 6–foot-9 forward poised to hit the open market and the Washington Wizards prepared to let him go, Sacramento has been viewed as a natural fit. However, it’s not the only significant investment the front office might make.
Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer spoke to multiple NBA executives who believe that Sacramento has multiple big moves up its sleeves this offseason. Among them, potentially signing Domantas Sabonis to a lucrative contract extension.
Extending Sabonis wouldn’t prevent the Kings from spending in free agency, but a new deal would make him one of the highest-paid NBA players. Regarding the cost of an extension, the estimation is a four-year deal in the ballpark of $120 million total.
At a $30 million average annual value, Sabonis would be the eighth-highest-paid center in the NBA, just behind Karl-Anthony Towns ($31.65 million). However, the All-Star center could opt to wait until next summer, when he’d be eligible for a far more lucrative extension.

One other free-agent target mentioned for Sacramento is Khris Middleton, but he’s increasingly likely to re-sign with the Milwaukee Bucks. If that happens, Kuzma is a viable target and the combination of the Kings’ cap space and their young core aligning with Kuzma could make Sacramento the favorites to sign him.
