Dave Roberts: ‘Hard to imagine’ Rich Hill will return before September

Dodgers pitcher Rich Hill

The Los Angeles Dodgers don’t anticipate starting pitcher Rich Hill coming back from his forearm injury any time soon.

Hill was originally placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained flexor tendon in his throwing arm. On Wednesday, the Dodgers moved him to the 60-day injured list, meaning he wouldn’t be avalaible until mid-August.

However, manager Dave Roberts said he doesn’t expect Hill to return before Sept. 1.

Pitching 53 innings in his 10 starts this year for the Dodgers, Hill went 4-1 with a 2.55 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, along with 61 strikeouts.

Los Angeles has a deep rotation, a loaded lineup and a 13-game lead in the National League West. So, while the Dodgers are certainly better when Hill is in the rotation, they’ll do okay while he rehabs this injury.
