The Washington Commanders are signing journeyman quarterback Marcus Mariota to a one-year contract, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.

ESPN reported the deal was for $6 million and can climb to $10 million with incentives for Mariota, who stays in the NFC East after spending 2023 with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mariota, drafted No. 2 overall by Tennessee in 2015, compiled a 29-32 record as a starter for the Titans from 2015-19 and went 5-8 as the starter for the Atlanta Falcons in 2022.

The 30-year-old Mariota completed 15 of 23 passes for 164 yards with one touchdown and one interception in three games as Jalen Hurts’ backup last season.

The 2014 Heisman Trophy winner at Oregon, Mariota has completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 15,820 yards, 93 touchdowns and 55 interceptions in 90 games (74 starts) for the Titans, Las Vegas Raiders (2020-21), Falcons and Eagles.

The Commanders have the No. 2 overall pick in April’s draft and are widely expected to take LSU’s Jayden Daniels, assuming Southern California’s Caleb Williams goes to the Chicago Bears at No. 1.

Sam Howell, 23, finished 4-13 as Washington’s starter last season. The 2022 fifth-round pick led the NFL with 612 pass attempts and also 21 interceptions, throwing for 3,946 yards with 21 touchdowns.
