Report: Trade market for Antonio Brown severely limited

A report earlier on Monday indicated that the Pittsburgh Steelres could trade seven-time Pro Bowl receiver Antonio Brown as early as this week.

It’s no real surprise that the process of dealing its embattled receiver has been expedited by Pittsburgh. Brown is due a $2.5 million signing bonus on March 17. The Steelers want to move him before they have to pay that out.

Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, it looks like the market for Brown is dwindling by the day.

“It’s getting tougher to find teams with genuine interest in Antonio Brown, which is staggering considering his ability and what’s left on his contract (three non-guaranteed years, $39 million),” MMQB’s Albert Breer reported.

Brown’s social media presence certainly isn’t helping matters here. His attitude could very well be impacting how teams view the game’s most productive receiver. An alleged domestic incident back in January is also somewhat of a concern.

The San Francisco 49ers were initially the team linked to Brown the most. Though, the team has cooled off big time as it relates to landing the No. 1 receiver.

Meanwhile, another report on Monday indicated that the New England Patriots were looking to add a top target for Tom Brady.

The more Brown’s price drops, the more likely it is that New England will be in play. Then again, suggestions around the NFL world are that Pittsburgh has no desire to deal Brown to any AFC team, let alone the hated Patriots.

In any event, this is something to watch as the NFL calendar turns to free agency in a little over a week.
