It sure looks like owner James Dolan and the New York Knicks are casting a wide net in their search for a new general manager.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sixers general manager Elton Brand is a candidate for the position. The insider goes on to note that Philadelphia is happy with the job Brand has done as GM.

Whether that latter point is true remains to be seen. Brand has had some hits and misses during his 18 months as Philadelphia’s general manager. Some recent misses include lucrative contracts for Al Horford and Tobias Harris.

Scott Perry currently serves as the Knicks’ general manager. But it’s believed he will be jettisoned from the Big Apple here soon. New York fired president Steve Mills earlier in the season. That came after the team moved on from head coach David Fizdale.

With the NBA’s season currently on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, things are on hold from a personnel standpoint. That doesn’t mean teams such as the Knicks aren’t planning for the offseason ahead.
