Report: Rajon Rondo signs one-year, $9 million deal with Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are making moves. Just moments after a report broke that the team had renounced restricted free agent Julius Randle, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported veteran point guard Rajon Rondo has inked a one-year deal to join LeBron James and Co.

Rondo’s contract is reportedly worth $9 million, per Marc J. Spears of ESPN.

One wonders exactly how this new addition will impact second-year point guard Lonzo Ball.

Rondo is coming off a very solid campaign with the New Orleans Pelicans. He averaged 8.3 points, 8.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game and is a natural distributor of the basketball.

This addition helps ensure that James doesn’t have to be the primary ball-handler, which has in the past really worked to tire him out over the long haul.
