Report: Philadelphia DA to announce no charges against LeSean McCoy

LeSean McCoy

LeSean McCoy got into an alleged altercation with two off-duty Philadelphia police officers back in February, but the District Attorney is expected to announce no charges will be filed in the case, per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

McLane reports the DA in the case will be making the announcement on Monday or Tuesday.

This entire ordeal has been filled with minor scandals.

In the first place, just the fact that McCoy’s altercation involved a couple of off-duty cops got things kicked off on a sideways note. The cops were allegedly intoxicated, which likely has a lot to do with the case getting dropped.

That said, in the early goings a high-ranking Philadelphia Police official called the investigation a “disgrace and a mockery” and said the DA was “frightened and wants this all to go away.”

Later towards the end of February McCoy and the DA were supposed to have a meeting, which was leaked to the public. McCoy was not happy about the development and called the meeting off at that time.

In the end, despite the initial shock that McCoy allegedly got into some fisticuffs with cops, it appears the entire thing will be nothing more than a blip on the radar in the grand scheme of things.

Should McCoy be cleared of any wrongdoing here, then he’ll be able to show up to team workouts in a couple of weeks and fully participate in all offseason activities with the Buffalo Bills.
