The Denver Nuggets have quickly taken action to start the free agency period. At the start of the free agency period, Denver agreed to a max deal with star center Nikola Jokic.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Jokic agreed to a five-year contract worth $148 million. The $29.6 million average annual value of the contract will make Jokic the league’s highest-paid center.

Last season with the Nuggets, the 23-year-old big man averaged 18.5 points, 10.7 rebounds and 6.1 assists. He finished fourth in the NBA with 10 triple doubles in 75 games.

Now with Jokic and Will Barton signed to long-term deals, the Nuggets have kept two of their core contributors from last season with the team.
