The Indianapolis Colts are moving towards replacing fired coach Chuck Pagano. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Colts will interview New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Thursday.

McDaniels was a head coach for the Denver Broncos from 2009-2010. After starting 6-0, the Broncos limped to an 8-8 finish in 2009. Following a 3-9 start in 2010, he was fired and eventually rejoined the Patriots as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2012, positions he’s held ever since.

It certainly makes sense that Indianapolis would be looking for more of an offensive minded guy. The key to turning the franchise around will be not only getting quarterback Andrew Luck back on the field, but also performing at an elite level. Having an offensive coach would certainly help accomplish that.

It’s worth pointing out that the New York Giants have also reportedly pegged McDaniels as a candidate to replace Ben McAdoo. He’ll be one of the hottest names on the market until he’s scooped up.
