The New York Jets are reportedly interested in a potential trade for Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams and have reached out to his camp to express that interest.

Ralph Vacchiano of SNY shared this breaking news on Friday afternoon.

“According to an NFL source, they have informed Williams’ camp of their interest in the 31-year-old seven-time Pro Bowler. That interest, the source said, is both in trading for Williams and at least talking to him about a new contract.”

Williams was granted permission to seek a trade on Thursday, and there is already plenty of interest around the NFL for his services.

The Redskins had hoped to bring him back into the fold for the 2020 season after he missed all of last year following a dispute with the team over a medical emergency and ultimately ended up on the non-football injury list.

In addition to any hard feelings that may remain, Williams has reportedly asked Washington to either sign him to a new contract or trade him. He’s entering the last year of his current deal, which would pay him $12.5 million, though none of that is guaranteed.

Any team that wants to trade for Williams would likely have to agree to a contract that he finds acceptable beforehand.
