Report: James Harrison has ‘reasonable chance’ to return to Patriots in 2018

Soon to be 40 years old, James Harrison is nearing the end of his NFL career, but he’s not ready to hang up the cleats just yet. In fact, Harrison wants to play for a couple more seasons. And there’s a chance he could do so wearing a New England Patriots jersey, according to a report.

The Boston Sports Journal reported that there’s a “reasonable chance” Harrison returns to New England for the 2018 season.

Based on the way Harrison sparked the Patriots’ lackluster pass rush late in the season and into the playoffs following his trade from Pittsburgh, we shouldn’t be surprised by this. Though he is a veritable graybeard, Harrison has maintained an incredible physique over the years and can do stuff most men half his age couldn’t dream of accomplishing (like this).

After barely seeing the field as a member of the Steelers, Harrison ended up tallying two sacks for New England during the final games of the regular season. He also was a force in the playoffs putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks, though he didn’t register a sack.

The best part for New England is that Harrison likely won’t command a huge contract. So it could be a win-win for both parties to bring him back.
