The closer we get to NFL free agency, the more it looks like former Dallas Cowboys star Byron Jones is going to reap a record-breaking contract.

The latest rumor on this front, courtesy of Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline, indicates the New York Giants are going to compete with the Philadelphia Eagles (who’ve been hot to trot for Jones) and are expected to get into a bidding war for the cornerback.

The Giants have developed a penchant for bidding against themselves for overpriced players in recent years.

Though, given the buzz surrounding Jones this offseason, it sounds like that won’t be the case here. There will surely be other teams pursuing the 2018 Second-team All-Pro as well as many teams enter free agency with deep pockets and a need at the cornerback position.
