Report: Geno Smith visiting Seahawks after Chargers

Geno Smith

After visiting the Los Angeles Chargers, free agent quarterback Geno Smith is staying on the West Coast.

According to a report, the former New York Jets and New York Giants quarterback is scheduled to meet with the Seattle Seahawks.

Smith most recently played for the Giants in 2016. He got into two games — controversially starting one of them. In those two games, he completed 58.3 percent of his passes for 212 yards with a touchdown, no interceptions, and an 84.5 passer rating. From 2013-2016, he played with the Jets.

With the arrest and release of Trevone Boykin, the Seahawks are looking for someone to backup Russell Wilson. During the 2013 and 2014 season when Smith was the primary starter for Gang Green, he ran for 604 yards and seven touchdowns. So, he’d certainly be worth considering as a backup for a mobile quarterback like Wilson.
