Report: Geno Smith visiting Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly bringing in quarterback Geno Smith for a visit on Wednesday to see if he’ll be a good fit as a backup to Philip Rivers.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media shared this information, along with the note that head coach Anthony Lynnn “has been a fan of Smith.”

Last season, Smith was a member of the New York Giants. He famously was the player inserted into New York’s lineup by Ben McAdoo on that ill-fated day in San Francisco that broke Eli Manning’s start streak.

Over the course of his five-year career, Smith has started 31 games, earning a record of 12-19. He’s not particularly accurate, having completed 57.9 percent of his passes for 6,174 yards with 29 touchdowns and 36 interceptions.

However, seeing as Los Angeles has no good backup option at this time, bringing in Smith wouldn’t be a bad move.
