Report: Dolphins believe rookie LB Raekwon McMillan has torn ACL

Miami Dolphins LB Raekwon McMillan could be lost for the season.

The preseason is a time for youngsters to prove themselves. It’s a time when rookies can take to the field and earn their keep as professional football players. Potentially set to start at linebacker for the Miami Dolphins, rookie second-round pick Raekwon McMillan was looking to prove himself in his NFL debut Thursday night against the Atlanta Falcons.

Unfortunately for the rookie from Ohio State, it looks like his season might already be over.

On the opening kickoff Thursday evening, McMillan went down with that appeared to be a knee injury.

It’s now being reported that the Dolphins believe McMillan did in fact tear his ACL, which would cost the youngster the remainder of the season.

Following the retirement of Koa Misi earlier this summer. the expectation was that McMillan would start at strong-side linebacker for the Dolphins. Now, following a freak injury on the very first play in his very first NFL game, that’s now longer going to be the case. What an unfortunate piece of news here for the former Buckeye and his new team.
