Report: Dolphins LB Koa Misi retiring from the NFL

Miami Dolphins linebacker Koa Misi will reportedly retire.

Koa Misi’s attempt to return from spinal fusion surgery in his neck did not make it through the summer. The Miami Dolphins’ linebacker will reportedly call it a career after seven injury-plagued seasons in the NFL.

Misi, 30, was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday to make room for veteran cornerback Alterraun Verner. This had to be seen as a sign that he would not be able to return to the gridiron.

A former second-round pick out of Utah, Misi started 72 games in seven seasons with the Dolphins. Though, injuries ultimately caught up with him throughout his career. He only played one full 16-game season, which came during his rookie campaign back in 2010.

With Misi calling it a career, rookie second-round pick Raekwon McMillan will take over as Miami’s starting strong-side linebacker next to Lawrence Timmons and Kiko Alonso this season.
