Report: Dodgers would include top prospect in deal for Chris Sale

Chris Sale White Sox

Whether it’s their strong farm system or the seemingly endless amount of money at their disposal, the Los Angeles Dodgers have the riches to add pretty much anyone that’s placed on the trade block.

Following his little tirade in the Chicago White Sox locker room and the ensuing five-game suspension, ace starter Chris Sale appears to be on the trade block.

So it would stand to reason that the two sides might find a way to come together in a potential deal for the American League Cy Young candidate.

A recent report from Joel Sherman of the NY Post now suggests that the Dodgers would be willing to deal top prospect Julio Urias in any potential deal for Sale.

That’s some rather big news right there, and it could set into motion a deal between the two sides before next week’s trade deadline.

Urias, 19, entered the season as the Dodgers top overall prospect. Despite his young age, the lefty has started nine games this season, posting a solid 10.7 strikeouts per nine innings. Though, his 4.69 ERA and 1.51 WHIP are incredibly high.

It goes without saying that Chicago would need more than just Urias in a potential trade involving Sale, but that would be a tremendous start in negotiations.

As it relates to the Dodgers, they are in desperate need of rotation help with Clayton Kershaw out indefinitely with a back injury. If Chicago can force the Dodgers into yielding a bounty for Sale, this deal might make sense.
