White Sox GM: Chris Sale has not requested trade

Chris Sale has made it clear that he does not like wearing the 1976 uniforms. Still, according to general manager Rick Hahn, the ace is not actively pursuing a trade from the Chicago White Sox.

This has certainly been a bizarre saga. Sale — whose name has been discussed in trade talks — was sent home on Saturday before his scheduled start. Tommy Stokke of FanRag Sports later reported that Sale cut the team’s throwback jerseys up so that they could not be worn.

Prior to Sunday’s game, Sale was suspended by the club for the incident.

While he may not be specifically requesting a trade, a deal sure seems like a natural next step. This incident is so bizarre that it’s really difficult to imagine Sale’s return to the locker room following his suspension as anything less than awkward.

It’s also noteworthy that Chicago’s return in a potential trade would likely be lessened if it was known that Sale wanted to be traded. So, there’s virtually no way that Hahn would say anything else.
