After attempting to get back into form following ACL surgery last year, Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles’ season is over.
Field Yates of ESPN reports the Chiefs have placed Charles on injured reserve.

Being that we’re entering Week 9, this means Charles’s season is over before it ever really began.
Following reports that the running back underwent MRIs on both knees recently, and that he was dealing with swelling in his knee, this isn’t shocking.
Also, given Charles’ workload the past eight years before 2016, it’s not terribly surprising that his body is breaking down on him now.
From 2008-15, Charles carried the ball 1,320 times and caught 283 passes for a total of 9,663 yards and 62 touchdowns. That’s a lot of touches, and he made the most out of each and every one of them.
Should Charles never make it back, he’d still be a Hall of Fame candidate. His career rushing average of 5.5 yards per carry is No. 4 in NFL history and the second-best in terms of running backs in the history of the league.
