Report: Buccaneers sign WR Josh Huff

Josh Huff

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff was not unemployed for too long. Following his release from the Eagles due to an arrest on marijuana and gun charges, Huff has reportedly signed on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad.

It’s interesting to see the Buccaneers take a chance on a player that’s going to be embroiled in an extensive legal situation off the field.

Huff was arrested last Tuesday and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana and a DUI. Following his arrest, the Oregon product had some rather interesting comments about what he believes to be widespread gun ownership in the professional sports world (more on that here).

This was likely the last straw for Philadelphia, who released Huff days later.

On the field, the former third-round pick has been nothing to write home about. He caught 13 passes for 72 yards in seven games prior to being jettisoned from Philadelphia last week. All said, Huff has tallied just 48 receptions for 482 yards in 34 career games.
