Report: Arian Foster to visit Dolphins Tuesday

In a strange twist of fate, the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans could actually trade running backs from a year ago. Arian Foster is reportedly set to visit Miami on Tuesday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Dolphins lost Lamar Miller this offseason when the running back signed a deal to join the Texans. So it’s with some amusement that we’re talking about Miami hosting Foster, who was released by Houston recently.

Foster has dealt with a series of health issues dating back three years. During that stretch of time he’s missed 23 games due to injuries, and the Texans didn’t want to pay him $6.5 million.

He is currently rehabbing the Achilles tendon that cost him all but four games last year. His brother Abdul is encouraged by how his recovery is going and expects Foster to be a full go for the upcoming season.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting a deal won’t likely be struck any time soon but that the visit will be a first step.

No doubt any deal Foster signs with a new team will include some incentives for playing time and statistical milestones. The Dolphins could certainly use the help at running back, though it remains to be seen if Foster will be healthy enough to give them the help they need.
