Report: Lamar Miller signing with Houston Texans

Running back Lamar Miller is joining Brock Osweiler in Texas, as Adam Schefter of ESPN reports he is going to sign with the Houston Texans.

He’s set to earn about $6.5 million per year, according to Rand Getlin of NFL Network, who also reports he could have gotten a bit more elsewhere but liked the fit in Houston.

Miller gained 872 yards, averaging 4.5 yards per carry last year, and scored eight times on the ground. He’s also an adept pass-catcher out of the backfield who caught 47 balls last year for 397 yards and three touchdowns.

Miller was linked to Houston on Tuesday, despite Miami’s hopes of keeping him in South Beach. However, the Dolphins failed to give him the respect he felt he deserved while he was with the team, and he has aims of becoming a true featured back who touches the ball 20-plus times per game.

“I want to be a featured back,” Miller said last month, speaking with Joe Rose of WAXY-AM (h/t Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald). “… I want the recognition I deserve.”

He now has a chance to get that recognition as the primary running back for the Texans and as the replacement for Arian Foster.
