Alex Lyon made 40 saves in regulation and overtime and stopped both attempts in the shootout to lift the visiting Detroit Red Wings to a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

Robby Fabbri scored two goals, Jeff Petry also scored and Lucas Raymond and Patrick Kane tallied in the shootout for the Red Wings, who have won two in a row for the first time in a month.

Adrian Kempe supplied two goals, Matt Roy also scored and David Rittich made 24 saves for the Kings, who have lost a season-worst four in a row.

The Kings, who had not scored in their previous five periods heading into the game, took a 1-0 lead at 1:50 of the first period.

Pierre-Luc Dubois brought the puck into the Detroit zone and passed to Alex Laferriere cutting through the right circle. Laferriere made a quick centering pass to Kempe, who redirected the puck into the net from in front of the crease.

The Kings expanded the lead to 2-0 at 4:18 of the first period.

Anze Kopitar brought the puck into the Red Wings zone along the wall and took a shot from the left circle that was saved, but the rebound came out diagonally to Roy, and he hit the net before Lyon could slide over.

The Kings outshot the Red Wings 18-7 in the opening period.

Fabbri scored his 10th goal of the season at 9:59 of the second to pull Detroit within 2-1.

The Red Wings entered the zone on a 3-on-3 rush and Olli Maatta centered the puck from just above the goal to Fabbri, who pushed the puck through the pads of Rittich.

Detroit tied it 2-2 at 17:21 of the second period when Petry took a slap shot from the left point that sailed through traffic and into the net.

Fabbri moved the Red Wings ahead 3-2 at 5:24 of the third period, pouncing on another rebound in the slot and shooting the puck past Rittich.

Kempe tied it 3-3 with 4:17 remaining in the third when his wrist shot from the top of the right circle squeezed under the right arm of Lyon for his 14th goal of the season.
