Reason for Jordan Addison’s 140 mph speeding citation revealed

Early Thursday morning, Minnesota Vikings first-round receiver Jordan Addison received a speeding citation in addition to a reckless driving charge for going 140 mph in a 55 mph zone. Naturally, criticism poured in from all areas of the world due to the dangerous driving Addison displayed in his Lamborghini Urus.

However, there are always at least two versions of a story. In this case, Addison might have actually had a somewhat legitimate reason for traveling at such a high rate of speed.

According to the traffic citation, Addison was actually speeding so he could get to a medical emergency his dog was experiencing. Or at least that’s what he relayed to the Minnesota state trooper, according to the Star Tribune.

Addison has since issued a statement apologizing for his actions early Thursday morning, and he mentioned nothing about his dog or a medical emergency. But then again, why would he?

Making such a statement might have been perceived negatively too. Better to let this battle play out in court, if at all.

No matter what, going 85 miles per hour over the speed limit is never a good idea. Thankfully, in this case, no one was hurt. As Addison said in his statement, he will learn from this. Let’s just hope his dog is ok too.

Addison and the rest of the Vikings will turn their attention to training camp next, with their first practice session set for Saturday, July 29.
