Young Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been in the news for all of the wrong reasons recently. It was Saturday that news broke regarding a car Rice had been leasing being involved in a six-vehicle accident on the North Central Expressway in Dallas.

At least initially, it was not known whether Rice was driving the car. But videos and photos at the scene show a group of men leaving the accident. It was caused by a Lamborghini and Porsche driving fast, creating a chain reaction accident in which multiple people were injured.

Over the past few days, the Dallas Police Department had noted that Rice was wanted for questioning. It now seems like that has happened. The 2023 second-round pick out of Southern Methodist released a statement via his Instagram account, offering an apology and noting that he has met with the Dallas PD.

“Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s accident. I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities,” Rashee Rice posted on IG. “I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident.”

It’s not yet known what charges Rice might face following the troubling incident this past weekend. Though, Chiefs president Mark Donovan did note earlier in the week that the team will “gather the facts and we’ll react accordingly.” The NFL is also monitoring the situation.

On the field, Rice is a major component to the Chiefs’ success. He led all of their wide receivers in catches, yards and touchdowns as a rookie last season. Rice also caught six passes in Kansas City’s Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers back in February.
