The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed veteran infielder Todd Frazier to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training.
Frazier, 35, hit .236 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in 45 games in the shortened 2020 season with the Texas Rangers and New York Mets.
The Mets declined their option on Frazier at the end of the season. While terms were not announced, he reportedly will earn $1.5 million this season if he makes the roster.
The former 40-home run hitter has 218 homers, 636 RBIs and a .242 career batting average over 10 big league seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees, along with the Rangers and Mets.
He hit 19 of those homers against the Pirates – the most of any opponent. He was an All-Star with the Reds in back-to-back seasons in 2014-15.
