Pittsburgh Pirates claim Yankees’ Greg Allen off waivers

The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed outfielder Greg Allen off waivers from the New York Yankees on Friday.

Allen, 28, saw action in 15 games in his lone season in New York. He batted .270 and slugged .432 with four doubles, a triple, two RBIs and five stolen bases.

In five seasons since breaking into the majors, Allen has played for the Cleveland Indians (2017-20), San Diego Padres (2020) and Yankees. He stole 21 bases for Cleveland in 2018, and is a .241 career batter with eight home runs and 59 RBIs.

For his career, Allen has played 125 games in center field, 85 in left and 38 in right.
