It seems that the Phoenix Suns front office believes you can never have enough offense and is pondering a trade for another star scorer from the Eastern Conference.

After some early struggles over the first few months of the 2023-24 NBA season, the Phoenix Suns have caught fire in recent weeks. The team heads into a big game on Friday night against the Indiana Pacers on a seven-game win streak and is now among the five best teams in the Western Conference.

Without a doubt, a major factor in their strong play recently has been the consistent health of Bradley Beal. He missed much of the first couple of months, and now with him back in the lineup, the Suns have had the three-headed scoring monster they envisioned when they traded for the Washington Wizards great this summer.

From the start, depth and better defensive players have always seemed like a clear need for the roster and would appear to be a primary focus before the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline. However, a new report claims they are targeting another player averaging 20 points a game, this time from the Charlotte Hornets.

Phoenix Suns interested in a trade for Miles Bridges

On Friday, AZ Central NBA reporter Duane Rankin reported that the Phoenix Suns are actually in the hunt to trade for impending free agent Miles Bridges. The organization is reportedly fine with him being just a “rental” since they won’t be able to sign him in the offseason and he is allegedly one of 10 different players on their trade wish list.

Bridges missed all of last season and the first 10 of 2023-24 due to an ongoing domestic violence case. The allegations severly damaged his foray into NBA free agency in the summer and he had to settle for a one-year deal with the Hornets for this season. He is averaging 20.8 points per game and seven rebounds in 37 minutes for Charlotte.

It seems the likely idea would be for Bridges to bolster the Suns bench for the stretch run and playoffs.
