Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns were looking to take out the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of their NBA Playoff series Sunday afternoon in the desert.
Fans on hand at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix were absolutely pumped for the Suns’ first playoff game since 2010. They also held a 32-25 lead over the defending champions after the first quarter.
Unfortunately, Paul went down in the second stanza after vying for a rebound with LeBron James. From the looks of the replay, it seems that the future Hall of Fame point guard suffered an arm injury.
As you can see, Chris Paul was in a tremendous amount of pain on the hardwood. He would almost immediately exit for the locker room after players on both teams showed concern.
Paul had put up three points, four rebounds and five assists in 10 minutes before heading to the locker room. In his first season with the Suns, Paul led the team to a shocking 51-21 regular-season record and the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
We’ll obviously have updates once they come in from Phoenix. For now, we’re hoping the injury is not as serious as it looks.
Update: Chris Paul returned to the game after a few minutes in the locker room
