Philadelphia Eagles add possible Miles Sanders replacement with Rashaad Penny signing

After four years with the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh native and former Penn State star Miles Sanders may be moving on in free agency. If so, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman just signed his replacement with Rashaad Penny, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Penny has agreed to a contract with the Eagles, though the terms have yet to be revealed.

Penny, the 27th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, made just 11 starts with the Seahawks in his five seasons in Seattle. Yet, he’s averaged a robust 5.7 yards per carry in his career. Better yet, Penny has only lost two fumbles in his NFL career,

Now Penny will have the advantage of running behind a top-ranked offensive line in Philly, with stalwart center Jason Kelce set to return for a 13th season. Penny is still just 27 years old and should have plenty of tread left on his tires being that he’s only had a total of 337 carries in his career.

While Kenneth Gainwell is set to return to the Eagles’ backfield, along with Jalen Hurts getting plenty of carries himself, Penny should receive plenty of opportunities with Philadelphia next season.
