Patrick Kane lands with New York Rangers in blockbuster trade

For months, there has been speculation, rumors and conversation swirling in Chicago, with the central piece being Patrick Kane. The American winger has constantly voiced his opinions on the Blackhawks’ organization and repeatedly expressed that he would like to be moved. It’s now official. Patrick Kane is a New York Ranger.

At the time of writing, it’s unclear who the third team is, the terms that change the second-round pick into a first-round pick, and if any salary is being retained. The deal is likely to become official after 5:00 PM ET when all of the details will be revealed.

The New York Rangers have been busy this year, also acquiring trade target Vladimir Tarasenko from the St. Louis Blues and Tyler Motte from the Ottawa Senators.

Patrick Kane could make his Rangers debut as soon as March 1 in the team’s tilt against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The NHL trade deadline is Friday, March 3rd.
