The Baltimore Ravens signed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year contract worth up to $18 million, beating out the New York Jets in a two-team pursuit for the NFL star. Now, the specific details of the contract Beckham Jr. signed are out.

Beckham Jr. was scheduled to meet with the Jets this week before he ultimately signed with Baltimore. After the Ravens agreed to meet his asking price in NFL free agency, the 30-year-old provided New York with an opportunity to match. The Jets declined, per SNY’s Connor Hughes, believing the Ravens were offering far too large of an offer to match.

The Ravens specifically instructed the deal to be cap-friendly in 2023. While the contract lists an average salary of $15 million, Beckham Jr’s base salary is only $1.165 million this year. Baltimore took advantage of void years, spreading out the guaranteed money over four additional void years once the one-year contract ends.

The deal is worth a maximum value of $18 million, with Baltimore including $3 million in incentives. Under NFL rules, the incentives count against the cap if they are achieved or deemed reachable based on the player’s recent production.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported the contract details on Wednesday, revealing that there is a strong possibility Beckham Jr. earns the entirety of his $18 million contract.

During Beckham Jr’s last healthy season, he finished with 44 receptions for 537 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Considering he is projected to be the go-to receiver in the Ravens’ offense next season, it is likely that he earns several of his contract incentives.

Paying nearly $18 million for Beckham Jr. after two ACL tears during his NFL career is a significant risk for Baltimore. However, quarterback Lamar Jackson helped recruit Beckham Jr. to Baltimore and the belief is the signing may help convince the NFL star to play for the Ravens in 2023.
