At 0-7 on the season, it seems like the New York Jets are going into full scale sell off mode ahead of the Nov. 3 NFL trade deadline. That previously included rumors that former top pick Sam Darnold could be on the block. We’re now hearing some rumors about fellow former top-three selection Quinnen Williams.
According to Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News, the Jets are looking to move the defensive tackle.

Update: Rich Cimini of ESPN reports that the Jets are not necessarily shopping Quinnen Williams.
Note: Take that report for what it’s worth. Cimini is locked in with the Jets’ organization. However, leaks of this ilk in the days leading up to the trade deadline suggests that this could be the Jets way of upping the haul in a potential Williams trade.
NY Jets news: Team looking to deal star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams
“The Daily News has learned that the Jets are shopping defensive lineman Quinnen Williams with the hope of moving him for a fair price before the Nov. 3 trade deadline,” the report read.
We previously focused on the Jets potentially trading the 2019 No. 3 overall pick. He has not seemed to be a great fit in defensive coordinator Gregg Williams’ scheme. The Alabama product has recorded 11 quarterback hits and 5.5 sacks in 20 career games.
With that said, the 22-year-old Williams will draw a significant amount of interest on the trade block if news about the Jets being serious about trading him are true. There’s obviously news coming from Jersey concerning the future of this roster. That’s started with Sam Darnold and has trickled down the roster following an ugly 0-7 start to the season.

Obviously, the future of head coach Adam Gase has made front page news in the Big Apple over the course of the 2020 season. Regardless of what happens with the embattled head coach, these Jets continue to make the news for all the wrong reasons.
NY Jets news: The team has already made multiple moves
- Jets trade Steve McLendon to the Buccaneers for an exchange of late-round selections.
- Jets trade Jordan Willis to the San Francisco 49ers for an exchange of late-round selections.
These are minor trades that barely made news during a busy cycle around the NFL world. They do very little to change the make up of the Jets moving forward and aren’t going to help when it comes to adding draft picks desperately needed for the squad to rebuild completely.
NY Jets rumors: It’s more than possible that the Jets could make multiple deals
With a week to go ahead of the 2020 NFL trade deadline, there’s no reason to believe the Jets are done making moves. News that they added Williams to the trade block is not necessarily too much of a surprise. However, general manager Joe Douglas and Co. would likely need to net a massive return to trade Williams.

With that said, there’s a number of other players we expect to hear news about relating to the Jets over the next week.
NY Jets news: Other players the team could deal
- Breshad Perriman: Signed to a one-year, $6.5 million contract, this former Baltimore Ravens first-round bust has recorded 11 receptions for 118 yards in four games this season. He has not been a fit with the Jets and could net them a mid-round pick in exchange.
- Jamison Crowder: One of the better slot receivers in the game, Crowder has recorded 29 receptions for 383 yards and two touchdowns in four games this season. He’s currently sidelined with a groin injury, but could provide a contenting team a major upgrade at receiver. In fact, Crowder has caught 63% of the passes thrown in his direction this season.
- Chris Herndon: The Jets are not using this talented tight end to the best of his ability. Herndon, 24, caught 39 passes as a rookie in 2018 after the team made him a fourth-round pick. Following an injury-plagued 2019 campaign, the Miami (F) product has put up just 13 catches for 98 yards. He could use a change of scenery.

These are just three players outside of Darnold and Williams who the Jets should seriously consider trading ahead of the Nov. 3 deadline. Lesser-known individuals such as linebacker Avery Williamson and defensive back Brian Poole could make sense, too.
As it is, news that the Jets have put Quinnen Williams on the trade block should not shock anyone. This team is about to blow the entire thing up.
