No structural damage for Trevor Story, Rockies hope to get him back this week

The Colorado Rockies received some absolutely huge news on Tuesday as they prepare for a late-season playoff push.

Star shortstop Trevor Story suffered an injury in Monday’s loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers while attempting to field a ground ball. He was ultimately forced from the game. Then, on Tuesday morning, reports surfaced that Story suffered potential UCL damage in his elbow during the play.

That’s not the case.

In speaking to the media prior to Tuesday’s game, Rockies manager Bud Black noted that the UCL joint is fine and there’s no structural damage to the elbow. The hope is to have Story back later this week.

Colorado entered Tuesday’s action just a half game behind the above-mentioned Dodgers in the National League West. It’s certainly going to need the All-Star shortstop back here soon.

Story, 25, is hitting .288 with 33 homers, 102 RBI and a .894 OPS on the season.
