San Francisco 49ers rookie pass rusher Nick Bosa may or may not be ready to play come Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Less than a week after saying Bosa was going to cut it close for Week 1, 49ers general manager John Lynch now says it’s more like 50-50.

“Bosa, he’s coming along really well,” Lynch said in an appearance on KNBR. “I think truly, that’s, I don’t know, 50-50, but it’s going to be touch and go as to whether he makes it.”

The Ohio State product was the second overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft despite missing most of his final campaign at college following a core muscle injury that required “major surgery,” according to Bosa’s father last year.

Since being selected, Bosa has dealt with two separate lower-body injuries. He missed most of the team’s offseason program with a hamstring injury before suffering a significant ankle sprain early in training camp.
