The Washington Capitals (31-24-7) open the month of March at home. They will host the Utah Mammoth (30-24-4) at Capital One Arena on Tuesday night.

The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Utah is the last team the Capitals will face for the first time this season. The Mammoth used to go by the Utah Hockey Club, and of course, the Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes.

The Capitals came out of the Olympic break with two victories before suffering a 6-2 setback in Montreal on Saturday. Alex Ovechkin scored both goals for Washington.

Nevertheless, the Capitals enter Tuesday’s game on a five-game home winning streak. Three of those wins took place before and after the Olympic break.

The Capitals also enter Tuesday with six wins in their last eight games (6-2-0). The team now has 20 games left on the schedule, and will need to claim two-thirds or three-fourths of the 40 points remaining.

From Nov. 1 to Feb. 28, the Capitals were the only NHL team to play as many as 50 games. The actual total for the team was 51.

Meanwhile, Utah is coming off a six-game homestand where they went 3-3-0. Their last game was a complete dud as they fell 4-0 to Chicago in Salt Lake City.

Now, Utah begins a five-game road trip in Washington on Tuesday. The trip lasts eight nights and concludes in Minnesota next Tuesday.
