The Washington Capitals (33-27-7) begin a pivotal four-game homestand on Saturday afternoon. Their test begins when they host the Boston Bruins (36-23-6) at Capital One Arena.

The puck drops at 3:00 p.m. ET.

The Capitals’ upcoming homestand is their last multigame homestand of the season. The team will play more than half – four of seven – games at Capital One Arena the rest of the way.

The Capitals have 15 games left to play for a possible postseason spot. Their final game of the season will be a month from Saturday.

On Thursday, the Capitals kept their playoff chances alive as they upset one of the hottest teams in the NHL. They came into Buffalo and snapped the Sabres’ eight-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory.

With 1:33 left in regulation, Aliaksei Protas found a wide open Jakob Chychrun for the game-winning goal. Charlie Lindgren was also remarkable in net as he stopped 29 of 30 shots.

Thursday’s win put an end to the Capitals’ four-game road losing streak. The team had scored two or fewer goals in five straight road games.

The Capitals and Bruins will meet for the second time in a week. Washington fell 3-1 on the road in Boston on Saturday, March 7.

Boston currently holds the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. With a regulation win, the Capitals can inch their way closer to the Bruins and that spot.
