The Washington Capitals (36-28-9) conclude their final multi-game road trip of the 2025-26 season. They will visit the Vegas Golden Knights (32-26-15) at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night.

The puck drops at 10:30 p.m. ET.

The Capitals began the road trip with a 3-0 loss to St. Louis on Tuesday. They looked to be heading towards back-to-back setbacks when they trailed 3-1 to Utah on Thursday.

However, the Capitals roared back with two goals from Alex Ovechkin in the second period, followed by four more in the third. Washington ended up leaving Utah with an impressive 7-4 victory.

Ovechkin recorded his 34th career hat trick when he sealed the game with an empty-netter in the final minute. Ivan Miroshnichenko also scored twice for his first multi-goal game of his NHL career.

Utah forward Brandon Tanev shoved Matt Roy head-first into the boards with an intent to injure. This led to Tom Wilson giving Tanev a piece of his mind. However, Wilson was given a double minor for roughing, while Tanev was given just a minor penalty for boarding.

Later in the game, Brandon Duhaime dropped the gloves with Tanev after Ovechkin’s second goal tied the game at 3-3. Then, Wilson got involved in another fight as he and Lawson Crouse went at it.

Meanwhile, Vegas currently sits in third place in the Pacific Division standings. However, the Golden Knights head into Saturday’s game 1-4-1 in their last six games.

The Capitals took the last meeting against Vegas with a 3-2 victory at home. Pierre-Luc Dubois finished with a pair of goals, while Logan Thompson recorded 24 saves against his former team.
