The Washington Capitals (28-22-7) have two games left before the Olympic break. First, they will visit the Philadelphia Flyers (24-20-10) at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Tuesday night.

The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.

This will finally be the first of four meetings between the Capitals and Flyers this season. They will meet four times in a span of 18 games, and across the next 57 days.

The Capitals enter the back end of their back-to-back in Philadelphia. On Monday, they beat the New York Islanders 4-1 for their third consecutive win.

The Capitals trailed 1-0 in the opening period, but were able to respond after that. New dad Martin Fehervary and Anthony Beauvillier both scored in the middle frame, while Nic Dowd and John Carlson sealed it in the third.

Clay Stevenson made his second consecutive start in net with both Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren still injured. He stepped up once again by stopping 29 of 30 shots for his second NHL win in three nights.

After not winning back-to-back games since early December, it’s amazing how the Capitals have been able to string together wins again, let alone three.

With Monday night’s win, the Capitals moved within two points of the Islanders for third place in the Metropolitan Division.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia has been close to being in playoff position for most of the season. Though the Flyers won their first two games in January, they collapsed by finishing the month 4-8-3.

Philadelphia enters Tuesday’s game in 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings, and five points behind the Capitals.
