The Washington Capitals (38-28-9) take a quick trip up I-95 on Thursday night. They head to Newark to face the New Jersey Devils (38-34-2) at Prudential Center.

The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Capitals will play the first of seven games in the month of April. The team currently sits in 12th place in the East, but three points out of a playoff berth.

The Capitals enter Thursday with a three-game winning streak, their third of such since late January. However, Washington will have to win out with seven games left if they want to reach the playoffs.

On Tuesday, the Capitals closed the month of March with a 6-4 victory over Philadelphia. Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson both reached milestones as they each recorded two goals.

Ovechkin’s first tally gave him his 20th 30-goal season of his career, as he now has 928 total. Meanwhile, Wilson was playing in his 900th NHL game as his two tallies made his night even more memorable.

The Capitals also came through on the power play twice, thanks to Jakob Chychrun and Ryan Leonard. Pierre-Luc Dubois also finished the night with three assists, including two on the man advantage.

Meanwhile, New Jersey dropped its first two games after the Olympic break, but have since gone 10-5-0. The Devils are averaging 3.73 goals per game, the fourth-best rate in the NHL.

New Jersey center Jack Hughes has been on a roll since winning the gold for Team USA in Milan. He has 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists) since the break, ranking him fourth in the NHL.
