The Washington Capitals play hockey for the first time since Tuesday. They head to Massachusetts to face the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Saturday afternoon.

The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Back on Oct. 8, the Capitals opened the 2025-26 season with at home against Boston. The team came in with high hopes as they were coming off a remarkable 2024-25 campaign with 111 points.

However, this season hasn’t exactly gone according to plan. Injuries and inconsistency have been two glaring issues with the Capitals in 2025-26.

The Capitals make their only trip to Boston this year and face the Bruins for the first time since Opening Night. With 19 games remaining, Washington is very close to the last Wild Card spot, behind by only four points.

The Capitals have already had a busy week in terms of the NHL trade deadline. The team traded away longtime franchise defenseman John Carlson, as well as veteran forward Nic Dowd.

On Friday, the Capitals acquired two new players as potential replacements for Carlson and Dowd. The team gave up draft picks for San Jose defenseman Timothy Liljegren and Vancouver forward David Kampf.

Meanwhile, Boston has surged as one of the league’s surprising teams under new head coach Marco Sturm. The Bruins had lost six straight – all in regulation – in October and another six straight in December. However, the team currently holds the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
