The New York Islanders have a stud on the way, folks. Cole Eiserman, the 20th overall pick in the 2024 draft, continues to dominate college hockey. He now leads all Division 1 NCAA Freshmen in goals.
This afternoon, in his and Boston University’s first game of the NCAA Tournament, scored two goals. The goals demonstrate why so many Islanders fans are excited for him to arrive.
On his first goal, fellow Islanders draft pick Kamil Bednarik won a faceoff back. Eiserman scooped up the puck and sent an absolute snipe top cheddar on the helpless Ohio State goaltender. That tied the game 1-1.

What else is there to say about this kid? He’s just special. As a true freshman, he has 23 goals. His stock has only risen as the season has gone on. That one goal did not satisfy Eiserman’s appetite.
In the third period, with a 5-3 lead, Eiserman danced through the Buckeyes’ defense. He made a sweet move, but a defender held him up, and it should’ve been a penalty. Instead, Eiserman kept pushing. He flung a backhand from below the goal line off the goaltender and in.
It’s not his prettiest, but it shows grit, determination, and ability to score. Goalscorers know how to find a way no matter where they are on the ice.

BU is well on its way to a dominant win over the Ohio State Buckeyes. BU’s next game will be on Saturday and if they win that, they will advance to the NCAA Frozen Four. While he’s expected to remain in school for one more year, the thought of Eiserman and fellow top prospect Calum Ritchie linking up in the future is salivating for the Islanders.
