Disappointment. Frustration. Determination.

These were the three best words to describe the New York Islanders as they spoke to the media one final time before heading home after a failed season.

A team with big aspirations after back-to-back runs to the Semi-Finals, the Islanders missed the playoff for the first time in three seasons. They finished the 2021-22 regular season with a 36-35-10 record, 16 points out of the final wild-card spot.

To say there were obstacles that infringed their ability to have success would be an understatement.  Not only did they deal with a 13-game schedule to kick off the season, but a COVID-19 outbreak, schedule reconfigurations, and a slew of injuries.

Equally, their failures this season were of their own doing.
