
Our long national nightmare is over, folks. Hockey is back today. Well, in a certain sense at least. After reporting yesterday for some in-house happenings, New Jersey Devils veterans will take the ice for the first time this season in a few short hours. One of these veterans, of course, isn’t expected to be Luke Hughes, who as of this very moment (7 AM EST) hasn’t been extended yet. Tom Fitzgerald and Sheldon Keefe have their first media availabilities later this afternoon, so I’ll provide updates on that front when those pressers kick off around 3.

NHL.com: Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald has been brought back into the fold for Team USA ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics, while NJ equipment manager Chris Scoppetto will be setting his sights on Milan Cortina as well. Fitzy served as AGM for Team USA for the 2025 Four Nations tournament, while Scoppetto was an equipment manager for the squad. READ MORE

USA Hockey: Team USA has announced the coaching staff for the 2026 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team in a press release. John Hynes (Minnesota Wild), David Quinn (New York Rangers), and John Tortorella (Boston, Mass.) will serve as assistant coaches alongside previously announced head coach Mike Sullivan (New York Rangers). Additionally, Mike Buckley (LA Kings) has been named goaltending coach, with Mike King (Ottawa Senators) and Madison Nikkel (Pittsburgh Penguins) taking on roles as video coaches. MORE HERE
