For the sake of transparency, I was questioned by a reader yesterday about whom I have advocated for in terms of players the New Jersey Devils should acquire. Yes, there’s been a handful. However, if you zoom the lens in, you’ll see it’s been a consistent trend. Players the Devils should target should be scoring wingers for the top-six. Why? Because the Devils have yet to replace Tyler Toffoli after moving him two trade deadlines ago. That goal production won’t replace itself. So, yes, there have been three players I’ve advocated for New Jersey to invest in. The latest is a new development. More on that below.

Elsewhere, Devils candidates to disappoint, the debate for Olympic squads is underway, and Matvei Michkov goes on record with a hot take!

Let’s do that hockey.

Devils Trade Rumors & News

New Jersey Hockey Now: Columbus Blue Jackets winger, Yegor Chinakhov, wants a fresh start. He’s a perfect buy-low candidate in a Devils trade.

The Athletic ($): The analysts over at The Athletic doled out their way-too-early predictions for the 2025-26 season. The good news? The Devils were all over the page. The bad news? They were… all over the page. It seems to be that the Devils are a polarizing team heading into next season, with some believing they could be a cup contender, and others thinking they’re a candidate to be the biggest disappointment.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Connor Clifton is getting some scrappy marching orders from the Pittsburgh Penguins right away. They don’t want the veteran defenseman to be passive. They want to see him be aggressive out of the gate.

Philly Hockey Now: Philadelphia Flyers star, Matvei Michkov made one thing very clear in a recent clip. He’s not a fan of dump-and-chase hockey.

TSN Video: The debate about who from the 4 Nations Face-Off on Team Canada won’t be in Milan for the 2026 Olympics has already begun.
