The New Jersey Devils rookies reported to training camp today for medicals and clearances. After that, they’ll hop on a bus and head right to Buffalo to take part in the Prospect Challenge.

New Jersey’s 24-man roster includes 14 forwards, seven defensemen and three goaltenders.

Most notably heading to Buffalo are defenseman Seamus Casey and forward Lenni Hameenaho. Both are two of the Devils’ top prospects, with Casey making a case for himself last season for more NHL minutes in the near future.

2025-26 will be the first full-time season for Hameenaho in North America, with the expectation he will play for the Utica Comets.

Other notable players on the Devils’ rookie roster are Cam Squires, Jakub Malek, and Shane LaChance.

Squires has established himself as a scoring threat at the junior level, and has an outside chance to translate his ability at the NHL level.  At 6-foot-4, 190-lbs, Malek is a giant in goal who covers much of the net with his size. However, has displayed athleticism that gives New Jersey a solid goaltending prospect in the pipeline with NHL potential. LaChance, however, has a shot to make his NHL debut as soon as this season.

Despite his rookie status, Arseni Gritsyuk is not attending rookie camp. He will report on Wednesday, September 17th, with the veterans, as he’s expected to be on the NHL roster.

The Devils rookies will play three games in Buffalo, which will be streamed on newjerseydevils.com. The schedule is as follows:

Thursday, Sept. 11, New Jersey vs. Columbus, 7:00 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 12, New Jersey vs. Buffalo, 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 14, Boston vs New Jersey, 12:00 p.m.

Here’s the rest of the roster heading to Buffalo on Wednesday.
