Well, isn’t it interesting to be on this side of the sports media world. Hey New Jersey Devils fans, my name is Zach Berman, and I’m excited to get going as a contributor to New Jersey Hockey Now’s Devils coverage alongside James Nichols.
I was born and raised in Monmouth County, and I became a passionate Devils fan when my Cub Scout troop took a trip to a game—I was just six years old, and I’ve been hooked ever since. After graduating from the University of Missouri, I’ve spent the past few years traveling the country as a baseball broadcaster, most recently serving as the voice of the Northwoods League’s MoonDogs in Mankato, Minnesota.
Now, I’m excited to bring my distinctive storytelling style and lifelong passion for hockey—and especially the Devils—to NJHN. My connection to the team runs deep; I even spent more than a year working as a sales associate for the Devils.
Outside the press box, I’m a die-hard sports fan who can usually be found cheering on the Yankees, Giants, Trail Blazers, and Missouri Tigers. I love getting outdoors with my goldendoodle, Bella, whether it’s hiking, traveling, or hitting the slopes for some skiing. Cooking and exploring new places are also passions of mine—and if I weren’t pursuing sports journalism, you’d probably find me spending my days skiing out in Utah.
I’m psyched to be able to share this team’s story over the coming days, weeks, and months with one of the most passionate and fierce fanbases in the sport, and cannot wait to get started.
By the way, James did a great piece today about the Luke Hughes contract standoff today. Check it out:
