After a rare gap in the schedule where the New Jersey Devils (32-30-2) had three game day’s off, they were able to squeeze in an equally rare two practices.

Tonight, the Calgary Flames (25-32-7) role into the Prudential Center amid New Jersey’s current seven-game homestand.

After a four-game win streak, the Detroit Red Wings put an end to the Devils’ latest improved on-ice product, shutting out New Jersey on Sunday.

It dwindled their playoff hopes to an even more unrealistic level at 0.7% chance to make the postseason.

The Flames—who are all but eleiminated—sold off at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline, moving Nazem Kadri and Rasmus Andersson, their two most heavily rumored players to move out.

Yet, they brought a few bodies in to fill the voids.

Let’s dive into tonight’s matchup.
