There has been a lot of criticism sent Nick Suzuki‘s way, but if we’re basing our opinions on facts, rather than dusty, preconceived notions, he’s done quite well in his limited usage. He’s setting up a lot of chances, and playing quite well in his own end. Of course, this isn’t the first time there has been an unsubstantiated amount of criticism sent his way, and if we’re being perfectly honest, it seems that most of it is once again coming from Ontario. If we leave emotions aside, Suzuki has clearly performed at a very respectable level for Team Canada.

Montreal Victoire forward Marie-Philip Poulin continues to dominate for Team Canada at the Winter Olympic Games. The 34-year-old forward scored both goals in Canada’s surprisingly difficult 2-1 win versus Switzerland on Monday, which means she now has the record for the most goals in Olympic history (20).

Speaking of Canadian women, they will face Team USA in the gold medal game on Thursday. It will be a difficult match-up for Canada, as the USA dominated them to the tune of 5-0 in the prelims. Simply put, the USA is younger, faster, and stronger, but Canada is known for showing up when it matters most.

The Laval Rocket finally lost a game, ending their seven-game winning streak. They dropped a 4-3 game in the shootout versus the Toronto Marlies, with Florian Xhekaj (10), Vincent Arseneau (4), and Alex Belzile (23) finding the back of the net for Laval.

Coincidentally, or not, the top-5 leading scorers at Olympics were all picked first overall, including Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky.
