The NHL Board of Governors will soon vote and most likely approve the Pittsburgh Penguins’ sale from the almost existentially corporate Fenway Sports Group to the mom-and-pop conglomerate Hoffman Family of Companies. To come this far and not have the sale approved would be embarrassing for too many people, so even if it were a close call, it will be approved. [Vegas Golden Knights]
A pair of new rumours offer some big updates on the New York Mets’ pursuit of Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker. This has been a frustrating couple of weeks for Mets fans. To begin the month, they were hit with a major shot to the gut when they lost not one, but two members of their core when Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonso accepted huge contract offers from the Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles, respectively. Bichette is one of many position players, including Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman, who might be forced to wait until 2026 to sign with an MLB team. This comes after an active MLB Winter Meetings that saw the likes of Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber sign deals. [Sportsnaut]
